Breakout Session Speaker, Jeneen McNally – COMPES PDC 2019

In the spring of every year, SWE-Detroit – in coordination with SHPE and NSBE Detroit – offers a one-day conference to support career guidance, networking, and leadership building. This is a great opportunity to expand your horizons, network and meet many other great SWE-Detroiters! Keep an eye on the calendar and www.compespdc.org for further information.

SWE Detroit hosts professional development events throughout the year that cover a variety of topics such as industry panels, technical presentations, and local industry tours. These events are a great way to meet other female engineers from diverse backgrounds and learn something new!

Past events include a Women in Energy panel, Webinar Wednesdays , and a SWE Archives tour at Wayne State University.

This group meets monthly in the Royal Oak/Berkley Area to discuss a book every month. You are not required to finish the selected book in order to join the discussions. Note that after the pandemic, some of the meetings are being held virtually. Check out the calendar for upcoming book club meeting dates.  Also, check out our Facebook group for information on what we are reading.

SWE-Detroit is an affiliate member of the Engineering Society of Detroit (ESD), and our SWE award members are recognized at the annual ESD Gold Awards Banquet.

The Engineering Society of Detroit has been preparing engineers for FE and PE examinations since 1940. A Professional Engineer license shows an engineer’s knowledge and dedication to the profession and allows an individual to work as an independent consultant. Our track record has led to us becoming a leading figure in exam preparation; engineers prepared though ESD courses have a higher examination success rate.

The Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Review Course includes 60 hours of classroom preparation with instruction by experienced professionals and a binder of the instructor’s study notes. The Principles & Practice of Engineering (PE) Review Course brings attendees 28 hours of instruction focusing on problem solving techniques needed for the exam. The courses provide detailed instruction by qualified instructors for specialized fields in civil, electrical, environmental, and mechanical engineering.

If you are seeking to advance your career, FE/PE Review Courses at ESD give you the best quality preparation for state exams. For information on dates, times and costs, visit the ESD website or call 248-353-0735.

Learn about leadership and hone your management skills by becoming an officer or committee chair in the Detroit Section or at the SWE Society-level. Monthly Executive Committee meetings are held with officers and committees to plan events and discuss section business.
